The new LG INR18650MJ1 3500 mAh is a really new 18650 battery cell that can handle fairly high drain applications (10A) while offering a massive 3500mAh.  It's one of the best batteries we offer for high discharge flashlights or other devices that need a high capacity but medium discharge protected battery.  The protected NCR18650GA is its only real competitor and is a good alternate choice as well.  As always we've done extensive testing to be sure they're real so you can be confident you've got the real thing. 

These are manufactured with a very high quality Seiko PCB with AO MOSFETs for 12-13A high current cutoff (most PCBs will not allow this much current).  This protection circuit protects the battery from mishandling, overcharge, or overdischarge while allowing the battery to do its job properly.

The cell is made by LG Chem.  Our company then adds the Seiko PCB along with the button top in an ISO certified factory to all safety standards.  A clear wrap is put over the top to hold it together while still showing the LG MJ1 wrap underneath.

Battery safety is very important.  Mistreated batteries can get extremely hot and/or vent which could cause injury.  Always follow the following rules to make sure this doesn't happen.  We are not liable for mistreated batteries.


  • Never completely discharge batteries (below 2.5V under load or 3V unloaded).
  • Charge fully (to 4.2V) before first use.
  • Never use a lot of force on the battery to install
  • Use only high quality battery chargers.
  • Do not expose to heat.
  • Do not connect the positive contact to the negative contact without an appropriate load.  
  • Be mindful of the current limits in the specification and never exceed them.
  • Never keep a spare battery loose in a pocket, purse, etc.  Always use protective cases for loose batteries.  If it shorts against a piece of metal it can be very dangerous.
  • Never charge battery 4.3V or above.
  • Do not charge unattended.
  • Do not store your li-ion batteries fully charged for an extended period of time (weeks or more)
  • If you must store battery then do it in a case or individual box in cool and dry place at approximately 3.6V - 3.7V.
  • Never try to charge or discharge li-ion batteries with battery chargers that are not made for Li-ion batteries.

    Comparing with Panasonic 18650 battery

    Still testing it in my Trunite 10 headlamp. So far it seems to be holding a charge for as long,if not lomgrt than the Panasonic battery. Once I have finised testing,I will re submit the compared results.

    The specifications of this battery are right on the money and that is a good thing, eh. I have used this battery in two of my flashlights an Astrolux S41/XPG 2 (long handle version) and a Pelican 7600.They both showed increased performance by putting out a few more lumens(very noticeably brighter). These batteries also lasted quite a bit longer than normal while producing better performance than regular 18650's in both flashlights. I highly recommend this battery and who is also an incredibly fast shipper. if your flashlight will take protected batteries do yourself a favor and get some of these batteries. As for me I will certainly be buying more of these batteries.

    "Too Fat" Battery

    When a protected cell is "too fat" to fit into a light, you can sometimes "roll it" between the palm of your hand and a hard surface to help flatten out the "high spots" just under the outer skin of the cell. These high spots on the cell are due to the external "protection" stripe running from the + to - ends of the cell where they are soldered on both ends. I have found that rolling the cell on a smooth, hard surface will often lead to the cell "fitting" a light. Sometimes you also have to "spin" the cell back and forth a bit as you insert it into the light to help it slide into the sweet spot.
