So I have run into some major flaws in the two I have tried. May be a bit lengthy of a read below, but it highlights and explains the flaws I discovered. Pros: Stays cool when charging. Works well enough with an Anker portable battery pack, but kills the portable after two uses(which requires a 10hr charge on its own) Has 3 settings for different charge speeds. Now to the Cons; the first device I received would not turn on with some of the wall adapters I had, until I found one it would work with. On the third run charging batteries, I noticed it started power flickering on and off, so I unplugged and checked it over. Discovered the usb connector began melting on the inside, which is where we had previously noted a slight dimple in the plastic piece inside the connector part. I reached out to Customer Service and they immediately sent out a replacement. ((Thank you Liion Wholesale for the amazing turn around wirh Customer Support!)) But the debacle doesn't end! The replacement I had received, had almost the same issues with wall adapters and not wanting to power on or stay powered on. I tried different plugs, etc.. nothing. I tried my portable battery pack until payday to get a new 2.1a wall adapter to try. It worked well enough on the portable battery, but it would not turn on with a brand new wall adapter! Out of curiosity, I tried the cord that came with the new adapter. Surprise, surprise, the device powered on, cycled its lights, and it waited in stand-by mode. (Felt like it was mocking me at this point) But with the OEM cord and same adapter, it either refuses to power on or it would turn on *Very* briefly and immediately shut off. Received the replacement on Tues, by Friday night, I was ready to be done with the shenanigans the device was throwing at me. We got this to replace a Nitecore D2 that we used every day **reliably** for well over a year until the cable port itsself came loose. (Constantly shuffled and even knocked off counters a few times, it had been through it, thankfully not loaded with batteries). We thought we would save a few bucks on the Enook and score with a four bay charger compared to the D2 two bay at a higher price, but this has turned into a royal headache. I don't know if I am just that unlucky to get two dud Enooks or what. I reached out to Customer support on the weekend, and I am hoping I can just send them back and get a refund or credit to put towards a new Nitecore. **Also minor complaint in comparisons, the slides for the batteries are extremely tough, to the point of excess. I am careful when putting in and removing my batteries, but this Enook sent them catapulting across the counter a few times before I could react.
Have only used it once to make sure it works. The plastic casing isn't as thick as my Nitcore but it's ok as long as it works. It's a good price and time will tell so that's why the 3 star rating I gave.
